“For my nocturne palette, I particularly like to use Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Violet, Manganese Violet, Viridian, Alizarin Crimson and Transparent Oxide Pink. The heat brown aids retain the paint mixtures from obtaining far too cold. I find these subjects inspirational mainly because the refined shade and benefit shifts create a prosperous, moody emotion.”

“A single of my just lately finished pieces is called Loire Valley Twilight. This piece was based on a plein air sketch manufactured in 2018 and highlighted a diploma of realism. Even so, it is a meticulously composed piece the place I experienced to prepare, invent and redesign all the things to make the composition do the job. This consists of colors, values as very well as the unique components in the portray. For illustration, the boats in the foreground were totally produced up based on the common sorts of vessels you’d find alongside the river. The values were being also carefully executed to make that precise time of day when the solar sets, and the initial lights of the town come on.”
